Home Just had an ultrasound
on my kidneys. Well, kidney area... Seems that even after you have a kidney removed as I did 2 years ago, they will still scan the void to make sure the cancer hasn't spread from the original organ.
Anyway, I must have had a comic for a surgeon because the ultrasound guy says he found a sign where my kidney should have been saying "This space for rent..." Glad there wasn't a little mouse holding the sign!

FOL Presentation
March 26 I will be giving a Writers Workshop at the Pahrump Community Library sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
The workshop will cover, among other things, a look at Copyright Law, Manuscript Preparation, the Publishing World Today, and Writer Resources.
Cost is $10 for non-members and $2 for FOL members. All money collected will go into the FOL general fund to help our library maintain its high standards.

How NOT to diseminate information
I just spent the morning at an interesting seminar dealing with how to write a book. What was interesting was how filled with holes and misinformation the presenters were on the subject o copyrights, ISBNs, and publishing in general.
I found myself interrupting their presentation at critical points to correct basic concepts such as WHERE to register a copyright, WHERE to obtain an ISBN, and WHERE to send the required copy of a book.
I could have covered everything they covered in about 45 minues and done it with more accuracy, but, hey, they were only there to sell their books. Right?
Then to top it all off, the drawing at the end of the seminar was for a copy of a book by the main presenter.
Guess who won. Yep, I walked home (actually I only walked to the car and drove home) with the prize.
As I said, it was an interesting morning. HA!

Well we hit 3 digits yesterday
So it looks as if summer is officially here in Pahrump and it found me working on swapping out a 1/3 hp motor for a 3/4 hp motor in my swamp cooler. After 3 trips to Home Depot for the motor, the pulley, and finally the belt I got it finished just at dark.
Then... half an hour later it was back on the roof to oil the bearings I forgot to oil.
Anyway, we are now pumping out some cool air and Dorothy is happy.
OO Templates Available
I have just uploaded both the interior and cover templates I used for Need A Job? Publish A Book! with OpenOffice. The templates are FREE to individuals who have purchased the book.

SPS Magazine
Started working on a digital magazine to send out to bookstores on a weekly? monthly? basis that highlights SelfPublisherStore members books. Each book will have the cover and one chapter along with any reviews (Amazon reader reviews?) associated with it. And with that said, I had better start learning about categories.

Got my new postcards in
with the Need A Job? cover and the response has been impressive. Went to a Sisters-In-Crime meeting Sunday and people were blown away with the image and the concept.
Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!
Blessed be the computer gods! I found the header file I uploaded before. All I had to do was overwrite the existing header file and fixed it. Only took 2 days looking.
Grrrr! I updated WordPress and lost
all the header changes I had. Back to the drawing board.
